Kristy Appelhans, N.D.

Dr. Appelhans is currently the Senior Director of Global Post-Market Medical Surveillance at Herbalife International of America, Inc. She completed her undergraduate work in Clinical Nutrition in 2003 and subsequently completed her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine in 2007. Her clinical expertise in integrative medicine includes an emphasis in nutritional and botanical sciences which further informs her ongoing work in the food and dietary supplement industry. Dr. Appelhans is also currently completing her final coursework in a Regulatory Affairs Masters program at San Diego State University.

Dr. Appelhans is actively involved in various industry-related projects including her advisory contributions in collaboration with other organizations in the completion of IADSA’s Global Guide to the Handling of Adverse Event Complaints in 2012.

In her active practice as a Naturopathic Physician and by using her substantial industry knowledge in post-market safety, Dr. Appelhans is able to draw upon her relevant expertise to lead Herbalife’s Global Post-Market Safety Surveillance team in performing comprehensive data analyses and medical case reviews. She and her diverse team of health and consumer relations professionals are therefore able to support Hebalife’s markets globally in managing, assessing, and responding to all health-related inquiries, including adverse events.  Additionally, she is the key point person for the implementation of relevant technologies and standardized nomenclature which are necessary for the Company to conduct meaningful post-market data trending and signal detection.
