CRN-I’s fourth scientific symposium

Bioactives:
Qualitative Nutrient Reference Values
for Life-stage Groups?

1 November 2013

Schlosshotel Kronberg, Kronberg im Taunus, Germany
(convenient to the CCNFSDU meeting)

The 2013 CRN-I scientific symposium, Bioactives: Qualitative Nutrient Reference Values for Life-stage Groups? expanded upon the previous symposium by delving deeper into the scientific basis for setting nutrient reference values (NRVs) for selected bioactives.

Realistic and justifiably supportable NRVs can be proposed and implemented, and expert speakers will discuss the experiences of countries where such values have been adopted.  In addition, considerations for different age groups and sensitive/refractory subpopulations in setting NRVs for bioactives were examined.

Speakers included experts from Argentina, Canada, China, Israel, the Netherlands, South Korea, the UK and the US, with Dr. Joanne Lupton, a member of the Food and Nutrition Board of the US Institute of Medicine, offering the keynote address.

This invitation-only symposium was highly recommended for regulators and other governmental decision-makers, in particular those who may attend the annual Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU). Scientific and regulatory representatives from academia, industry and other relevant scientific entities may be interested to attend CRN’s scientific symposium.
